Lana Condor’s hair and makeup at the MTV Movie & TV Awards were so stunning, we wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t notice her nails at first, but the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before star may have had the best manicure of the night. While the silver sequins of varying sizes, which matched her floor-sweeping, sequined Giorgio Armani gown, looked like the main attraction of Condor’s manicure, the backs of her nails were just as noteworthy. She was rocking the latest “flipside” manicure trend with a hidden pop of sparkle underneath her nails.

Celebrity manicurist Thuy Nguyen achieved the eye-catching nail art on Condor using OPI products. To get the look, start by applying a coat of OPI GelColor Stay Classic Base Coat ($14) followed by two layers of OPI GelColor in Lincoln Park After Dark ($20, originally $36). Next, embellish the nails with sequins and seal them in with the OPI GelColor Stay Shine Top Coat ($14). For the bottom of the nails, apply the base coat again followed by two coats of the OPI GelColor in Halo There ($21) to add sparkle. Then, seal that in with the topcoat.

The “flipside” manicure trend was most recently demonstrated by celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik on Selena Gomez for the Global Citizen’s Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World event earlier this month. Whether you go with a red Louboutin manicure like Gomez’s or opt for a hint of sparkle like Condor did, the flipside manicure trend is an easy way to subtly make a statement.
