Ahead of her June 23 conservatorship hearing, Britney Spears is speaking out about whether or not she’ll ever grace the stage again.

Several days ago, Britney Spears shared a video on Instagram answering questions that her fans and followers have been asking, including revealing her favorite business trip and shoe size. She also addressed whether she will ever perform live again in light of her several-years-long hiatus from performing.

“The [final] question is, am I ready to take the stage again? Am I gonna take the stage again? Will I ever take the stage again?” the singer said. “I have no idea. I’m having fun right now, I’m in a transition in my life, and I’m enjoying myself so, that’s it.”

Her caption read, “As @shaniatwain says best … LETS GO GIRLS !!!! It’s time to answer more of your questions 🌸 💁🏼‍♀️🌹!!!!!! PS … I know it’s WINE and DINE … I was antsy OK 😂🤷🏼‍♀️🤪 ???!!!”

Since the conclusion of her Piece of Me Las Vegas residency back in 2018, Britney has been laying low, out of the public view, and reportedly “taking time to be a normal person,” per the BBC. She’s also been navigating an ongoing legal battle concerning a decade-plus conservatorship enforced by her father, Jamie Spears, who, among a slew of other constraints, subjected Britney to “sealing procedures” that have restricted her from free and open communication with the public.

“Britney’s conservatorship has attracted an unprecedented level of scrutiny from mainstream media and social media alike,” according to a file reported in CBS News. “Far from being a conspiracy theory or a ‘joke’ as James reportedly told the media, in large part this scrutiny is a reasonable and even predictable result of James’ aggressive use of the sealing procedure over the years to minimize the amount of meaningful information made available to the public.”

Though Britney reassured many worried followers with another video on Instagram that she was nonetheless doing just fine under the circumstances of the conservatorship, sharing, “Yes, I’m totally fine—I’m extremely happy, I have a beautiful home, beautiful children,” she reportedly also communicated to the court via her attorney, Samuel Ingham, that she is scared of her father and refuses to perform onstage while he remains part of the conservatorship.

A documentary about the events that led to Britney’s conservatorship, Framing Britney Spears, released back in February, and a wave of support for the pop star from fans and fellow pop stars alike followed.

Her next conservatorship hearing will take place on June 23 in Los Angeles, during which she will address the court directly on the issue.
